Beautiful and yet…

hauntingly cringe-inducing.
The latest in our series of videos on non-traditional agility.

Parkour, or l’art du déplacement, is a sport where one traverses existing found obstacles in the environment. The goal is to traverse between obstacles provided by surrounding structures as quickly and efficiently as possible.

This dog is beautifully strong and acrobatic – but I wonder how long he can do this before sustaining a crippling, or life-ending, injury…

Just A Little Kinky

I LOL’d when I found this video because I sang my own version of this song to the pack this morning. Be happy I posted the video. My voice is not this good and you do not want to see me in skimpy lingerie…

If I’ve told you once

I’ve told you a thousand times.
Don’t treat your dog like a baby and ….

(warning – NSFW video with creepy ending)

Don’t treat your baby like a dog.
It’s not kind to either one of them.

Complete Sentences

Thinking I’d cure another bout of insomnia with a dose of late-night television I headed for the couch.  As I settled in, Audie (who has decided his career path is constant companion) let me know that he had something important to say.

Audie sat and stared intently at me.  Then he stared pointedly at the beanbag chair across the room.  Then at the floor next to the couch.  And he repeated the entire process again.  In exactly the same order.

“Mom.  The beanbag I like to lay on.  It needs to be here, right next to you.”

My dog speaks more clearly to me than most people do.  And a lot of the conversations he and I have are like that.  Quiet, calm and to the point – but not all of them.  When the mood strikes the boy can be quite loquacious…

Loyal, polite and articulate – he’s my kind of guy.

Hunting For The Spirit of Christmas

The first time I saw this I thought it might be another
ad from those crazy kids over at PeTA.

…then I realized that they never put out anything nearly this well done.

Happy Politically Incorrect Solstice!

Around the Web

From Davidoss Flickerpage

Hat tip to SouthernRockiesNatureBlog  for this link to the makers of a documentary on the suicide dogs of Overtoun Bridge.  I’d heard the story of Overtoun Bridge before and suspected, as Dr. Sands apparently did, that some unique set of environmental factors was the key to the mystery.  I’ve stolen borrowed loved so many things I’ve read there that I have finally belatedly gratefully added Chas to our blogroll.

YouTube teaser for Suicide Dogs of Overtoun Bridge documentary:

In the “astonishingly stupid holiday gift ideas for pets” category YesBiscuit provides a link to The Fabuleash and ThePoodleAndDogBlog posts on jaw-dropping idea of Rear Gear.  I post these together because I suspect that the same kind of person who’d pony up $375 to walk her precious darling on a Swarovski crystal studded leash might also prefer not to watch Fifi’s bunghole wink as the dog drags her down the sidewalk.

And from Regretsy – quite possibly the worst idea ever conceived in pet-related intimate apparel.
