It was a good day for them to fish in our back yard.  See!

The house cracked all night as the studs and joists adjusted to the cold.  A few times they rang like gunfire.

No showers this morning. We woke up to partially frozen pipes. Thank doG the kitchen faucets worked so I have coffee.

Both dogs obeyed my ‘urinate’ command instantly. They peed on the sidewalk then executed perfect flip turns to come back in. The urine froze on contact.  Thank doG I didn’t send them out on the deck.

A thick cloud of ice fog lies inert over the creek bed. It should be a good day to see bald eagles. They fish in the small stretch of fast-flowing creek below our house when larger bodies are frozen.

When I went next door to check the pipes at the training center the front door was frozen shut and the keypad was dead.  Thank doG I dug out that side door two days ago.

I could clearly hear our neighbor – a quarter mile away – talking on his cell phone as he did chores.
