We’re quite pleased to announce that LabRat over at AtomicNerds has seen fit to bestow a Superior Scribbler Award on us.

Of course, as with every Bloggy Award, there are A Few Rules we need to contend with to maintain the spirit of the award. They are, forthwith:
  • Each Superior Scribbler must in turn pass The Award on to 5 most-deserving Bloggy Friends.
  • Each Superior Scribbler must link to the author & the name of the blog from whom he/she has received The Award.
  • Each Superior Scribbler must display The Award on his/her blog, and link to This Post, which explains The Award.
  • Each Blogger who wins The Superior Scribbler Award must visit this post and add his/her name to the Mr. Linky List. That way, we’ll be able to keep up-to-date on everyone who receives This Prestigious Honor!
  • Each Superior Scribbler must post these rules on his/her blog.

Now that the official part of this is taken care of – on to our awards:

The first goes to BlueDogState because: “If you count dog ownership among your civil rights, you’re living in a Blue Dog State of mind” – and we *heart* our civil rights. We also like biting, witty commentary — and BlueDogState and I both like to pick on the same kinds of people.

The next award goes to the first blog I got hooked one and the one that inspired me to start this little project: Terrierman’s Daily Dose.  Pat the Terrierman writes on working terriers, dogs, natural history, hunting, and the environment – and he does with style, wit and amazing proliferance proliferousness he writes a lot.

From the blog that inspired me I’ll make the leap to a blog that (I think) I helped inspire; my friend Heather’s new Cynography blog. It only took a bit of pestering nagging whining to get her to take the leap and I’m really glad that she did. To paraphrase her own description of herself she is a cynic and philosopher who possesses the watchdog’s virtue of distrusting everyone’s motives — even her own. Go check her out, and while you’re there take a peek at her husband Ken’s new blog on scent, SAR and other interesting stuff; Did A Cat Shit in Here?

Then we have WorkingDogDiary – a well-written, continuing series of essays about the author’s journeys with her working dogs.  It’s a refreshing break from the news, science, politics and business that take up much of the rest of my reading.

Last but certainly not least, we have GunDogDoc’sBlog.  Really excellent information on health and first aid for field dogs mixed in with photos and stories of dogs in the field.  Dr. Joe Spoo also offers his readers the unique opportunity to ask health-related questions that he answers in his blog on a regular basis in his “Ask the Vet” posts.

I’ve done my work – it’s up to the five of you now to spread the love.

    Thank you!

Also many thanks for your thoughtful writing. A dog’s mind is a terrible thing to waste, and a civil right is a terrible thing to lose. Good for you for helping to prevent either thing from happening.

I’d like to echo the thanks for your writings as well…truly one of the great blogs going.
